DP-47 Wind Testing
On December 2, 1998, structural performance testing was conducted on the Santiago Door assembly with elliptical transom and sidelights manufactured by Streuli Sales, Inc. The testing was performed in accordance with ASTM E330, "Standard Test Method for Structural Performance of Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls, and Doors by Uniform Static Air Pressure Difference" as specified in AAMA/NWWDA 101/1.2-97 Section 4.4.2 and in compliance with the requirements in Section 4002 of the North Carolina Building Code, Volume VII.

The door assembly sustained a positive uniform load of 70.6 PSF. The door assembly sustained a negative uniform load of 70.6 PSF after it was modified from its original configuration by reinforcing the blind stop of the elliptical transom with additional screw fasteners.

This door unit, as tested, is capable of safely supporting a design wind pressure of 47 pounds per square foot (DP=47 PSF). This design pressure is based on a safety factor of 2 with a 1/3 increase for short duration wind loading (resultant safety factor = 1.5).
